Don’t shoot your employees!
An American newspaper reports that an employee at a Best Maid Cookie plant in Wisconsin is claiming that his manager shot him (albeit not deliberately).
The River Falls Journal reports that the manager had used a rifle to shoot at some birds flying around the plant. He missed the birds and left the scene without noticing an employee who alleges that he was shot in the back of the head. To compound matters, a works rule stipulated that the cookie machines could not be left unattended and so the employee waited for another hour before heading off to the hospital for treatment to have some lead removed from behind his ear.
There are several lessons to be learned from this, including not using firearms in the workplace, but it leaves us with the heart-warming conclusion that there are some people who are so conscientious and dependable that even if an employer shoots them they will loyally remain at their post until their tasks are completed!
