Whistleblowing via Employment Tribunals

Employment Tribunals will be able to pass information about public interest disclosures (whistleblowing) to the relevant industry regulator following revisions to the ET1 forms from 06 April 2010.

A claimant will be able to tick a box indicating their express consent for the ET to pass on copies of the form, or extracts. It is at the Employment Tribunal’s discretion whether the information is sent to a Regulator or not. If the information is passed on, the parties will be informed of who it was sent to and when.

There will also be a confidentiality option, or they may go directly to the regulator themselves. Guidance will be sent to Claimants and information about other sources of help.
